Have you seen the movie "It's All Gone Pete Tong"?
If so, what do you think about it?
Yes, I watched it the day after I got home from a long, noisy tour with dulled hearing and a loud ringing in my ears.
Because of this I didn't find it AT ALL funny and I watched it with a heavy knot in my stomach.
But it made me go to the doctor the next day and, to my relief, I discovered my hearing problems were caused by nothing more than a buildup of wax which the doctor safely removed for me.
I have been very lucky not to have destroyed my hearing over the years and although I work very quietly in the studio, this is obviously not possible live.
My solution was to invest in some Ultimate Ears Pro 7 custom-fit in-ear monitors which give me total control of the sound reaching my ears and allows me to protect them fully whilst getting a fantastic on-stage sound.
Used in conjunction with a fat Meyer Sound subwoofer, which sits behind me on stage, I get maximum bump with zero hearing damage and studio-like clarity.
Remember, hearing loss is gradual and usually irreversible.
