Hello Ott... I mean Mr Ott, sir.... aside from lovely curves, what do you look for graphically in a waveform in terms of the lowend?
I can't say I've ever looked. There are few clues to be found in a graphic representation of a waveform which are of any use to me.
Aside from obvious things like DC offsets and spikes/glitches, I know of no way to make effective value judgements about a sound based on a picture on a screen.
I will derive much more useful information about the low-end by using my fingertips on the speaker cone, and I've ruined plenty of good mixes getting carried away with what the spectrum analyser is telling me.
If you could choose one person to have a fanbridge to ask them anything, who would it be?
I'd be interested to know who you would want to ask about their musical techniques, but seeing as it's your fan page, I'll leave it up to you to choose :-)
If toast always lands buttered side up, and cats always land on their feet, what happens if you strap toast (butter side up) to a cat's back and throw them from a window?Ott responded on 11/05/2014
