First let me say I'm a long time fan and love your humor.
You have said that...
"In the USA it is virtually impossible to become an elected official without first declaring a belief in the Christian version of the god myth".
So you have found that God is a myth then?
You have also stated many times...
"Keep the company of those who seek the truth, but run from those who think they have found it."
Hipocracy is a slippery slope, my friend. True Christianity is not an organized religion. It is simply accepting in you heart that Jesus Christ gave his life for all of our sins.
All of the hurt we have caused others and ourselves. All of our lying, cheating, addictions and shortcomings... He has payed it forward for all of us through his death.
He took the bullet for us. I've accepted him to redeem all of my sins through his death. True Christianity is only that simple. Now, I guess we can run from each other :0)
I don't make any claim to 'truth'. I cheerfully accept I don't know what any of this is about. My position is fully agnostic in every sense.
The word 'myth' is defined as:
"...a traditional story, especially one concerning the early history of a people or explaining some natural or social phenomenon, and typically involving supernatural beings or events."
I think that perfectly describes every god-story I've ever heard.
If your beliefs and practice bring you peace then I'm very happy for you. It is perfectly reasonable for you to claim them as your 'truth'.
It must also be obvious to you that not everyone shares your belief and hopefully you are content to accept that too?
Whoops, hit 'send' by mistake...about halfway through your set last night (in Vancouver) you played a track that seemed to be in 6/10 time or something...I'm no time signature expert and probably have it wrong, but if you know what I'm talking about, could you please tell me the name of that song?
Do you give in to astonishment? :)Ott responded on 10/17/2015
