What do you think of Stone Temple Pilots? Scott Weiland, the lead singer, died recently. They never seemed to get due respect. Were you a fan of American bands during the early-mid 90s?
'Nevermind' was probably the album of the 1990s for me, but the other Nirvana albums failed to scale the same heights.
I found all of those other US rock bands [Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, etc] pretty generic and dull.
I quite liked Metallica's 'Enter Sandman' right up until the shitty, appalling, clichéd cock-rock guitar solo, and Soundgarden's 'Black Hole Sun' was a great song and a pretty well executed piece of psychedelia.
As far as '90s US bands go, I was more into The Pixies, Mr Bungle, Eels, Tortoise and Slint.
Hi, again, Ott. I asked you a couple things about monitoring previously and gosh, you helped me so much with vu meters that the only thing I've been thinking of is that if I had another question it had to have a great meaning for me and listening to the very end of adrift in hilbert space it came to me. To you use MIDI automation for filters and effects or you record the actual filtering and other effects fiddling? :D regards, Joe.Ott responded on 01/22/2016 Next question
There’s a belief that the vinyl medium supplies the best audio fidelity. Browsing the mechanisms by which sound information is transferred, it seems digital should be able to deliver the same information.
I imagine this is largely opinion, but what are your technical thoughts? Are people caught within a veil of nostalgia? Are there subtle differences?
