What really made you start to understand and learn music production?

Just the sheer amount of time spent doing it.

From 1984 to the present day I have pretty much done nothing else. Obviously the learning curve started to flatten out towards the end of the 90s, but I still have an obsessive desire to discover new things about how sounds interact and I suspect I always will. It's a huge subject.
