If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your 20 year old bordering 21 self?
If you find somebody attractive just tell them. Nobody minds being told they're beautiful, as long as you're not creepy about it.
Don't waste your time trying to make art which 'fits in'. It is pointless and dispiriting.
Cocaine makes people really boring. If you *must* take it, resist the subsequent temptation to talk about yourself for fifteen minutes without taking a breath.
Don't be fooled by people who try to appear 'spiritual' and 'enlightened'. They probably aren't.
Start planning for your old age now, by going out and *living*, having experiences and building memories which will sustain you when you find yourself much nearer the end of your life than the beginning.
Avoid tobacco, alcohol, religion and politics. They all just serve to keep you distracted from what is real.
Getting fired from a job you hate is *always* a good thing.
Cars ruin everything, but slightly less so when driven slowly.
Never buy a TV from a man in the street who is out of breath.
I'm a big fan of yours and I've been pronouncing your name right ever since I started listening to your music. My name is something anglo and average yet people still mess it up! Sharing a name with scores of other people feels weird as you go through and meet each one. Growing up I always wished I had a name that no one else had. Guess I'm a bit envious of your name so please excuse that!
Anyways, I've spent a lot of my free time in different forrests here in the states. When I listen to your music indoors, it takes me back there. So I was wondering, what are some of your favorite places in the world, inside and outside?
Are there any places tucked away you've found that have amazing acoustics?
Hey Ottman, I saw that you answered a question a while back regarding how many tracks you use when you mix down everything, you said you use between 20-25...
So my question is, how do you normally group these tracks, if they're only in the range of 20ish tracks you certainly must be bouncing several different sounds to just one track?
I'm asking this because I'm always making a mess with a hundred tracks or so and almost always give up somewhere along that process, so something like this could help me out a lot I believe!
Thank you, and keep on keeping on!
