Thoughts on releasing something in 5.1 or high rez 24 bit
A
Mixing music for 5.1 is problematic because of the sheer amount of variation in calibration of peoples' home setups. I enjoy 5.1 for movies but for music I just find it distracting and gimmicky. Until we evolve another three ears I'm sticking with stereo.
As for 24bit files, there's no point. They sound identical to 16bit files, they're just bigger. Any 'audiophile' who tries to tell you different is bullshitting.
Mr. Ott where do I start. You are a huge influence in my life, one of the best days of my life was when I discovered your music. I saw you at bang on NYC on Halloween, actually met you before you went on. Security was giving you a hard time getting through, when you finally got through my friend and me walked up and said "ott, been waiting a long time to see you" your response was nothing short of amazing "well I hope it aint shit then" from that moment on I knew you were someone to look up too with your humbleness that is still one of my favorite nights ever and you absolutely destroyed that warehouse. Can't wait for your new album. I guess I'll ask you a question now, who do you listen too. Who's inspired you to make the music that you do?

The layers of subtlety in your music helped me get into sound art. Do you ever go to sound art exhibitions? Are there any sound artists you particularly enjoy?
