Any reccomendations for a first-time analog mixer purchase? £1300/$2000 limit, 24-32 channel. Seems your current mixer meets the requirements; reccomend it? Any other bits of advice one should know?
Yes, I would recommend it. It's not the cleanest or the quietest or the most comprehensively appointed mixer I ever used but it has a character which I like and that I haven't found on any other small-format mixer. Sonically it reminds me of a Trident.
When I was an engineer I would spend the week working on an SSL or Neve and at the weekends come home to my modest Soundtracs and I never felt disappointed or limited by its sound.
Speak to Tim Jones at Studiosystems. He's the Soundtracs guru.
How do you route and use your hardware effects? When routing a sound through a hardware compressor or reverb, is it done through the mixer or just the soundcard? Is it rerecorded back into the daw?Ott responded on 03/02/2012 Next question
Mixer pt2: Any personal recommendations on a solid entry-level compressor, reverb, phaser, and delay hardware units? Can't thank you enough for the bits of advice. I've only done itb music for years.Ott responded on 03/03/2012
