Hi Ott, in "Aubergine" at 6:00 how did you make the vocals sound like they're going through a shredder. Also what sets of monitors do you use and what's their specific functions in production. Thanks!
The vocals are passed through a BBD analogue delay unit with the delay time and feedback modulated by random voltage generators on my Doepfer A-100.
My main monitors are Yamaha NS10m Studio models powered by a Bryston 4B SST amplifier. I work most of the time on a cheap Sony radio/cassette player with a CD line input. [See below].
The NS10s are used for critical mix judgements, the Sony radio for everything else.
why aren't you playing in California this year?Ott responded on 04/20/2012 Next question
I hate the way art can be a like popularity contest. For years it seemed like I had to 'fit in'. There is this idea, that someday i'll make it. I'll have success and recognition. I think its bollox.Ott responded on 04/22/2012
