Your drum tracks are amazing. You mentioned you spend a lot of time tweaking the quantize map. Can you expound on this. Do you tweak every drum or do you leave anything quantized exactly on the note?
I will decide on a quantise, either swung or not, and apply it to everything. I will then experiment with delaying or advancing certain beats to make things sound more pleasing.
It's an intuitive process and I can't describe what I mean by 'pleasing'. Some rhythms just sound a bit 'lumpy' and my instinct is to 'de-lump' them.
